Overview
The MXit API (application programming interface) allows external developers to develop applications (games, gadgets, etc.) for MXit’s user base. With the ability to use text or graphical representation, the possibilities available to create unique applications are endless. It has an added ability for developers to use our secure Billing API within their applications which will allow them to bill our users for certain features or the entire application.
An external developer can enter into a commercial contract with MXit which will allow the developer to share in the revenue generated from his/her application (app). However, it must be remembered that applications can be developed without cost attached and can be rendered as a free application for the user. Once an application is launched on MXit, MXit will give its full support to make the application successful, but the true power is in the hands of the MXit user base and applications that engage with them will be successful.
The power of the API is the ability to enable the design of applications that are not stand-alone (used in isolation by an individual) but applications that can have a social element attached to them - meaning that these applications have the ability to create unique communities with similar interests.
To summarise, the opportunities for developers are:
- To create your own community on MXit by developing engaging games or applications for our Large community.
- To generate revenue by charging Moola for your application or for in-game activities or items.
- To gain maximum exposure by being one of the first to captivate our community.
